GlobalFEST gears up for the 2015 edition of the festival, which will take place on January 11 in NYC
Since its inception in 2003 globalFEST has been showcasing diverse and interesting musical talents from around the world, becoming the most important North American gateway for international emerging and established artists. In 2010 globalFEST became an independent non-profit organisation promoting cross-cultural encounters through music and helping world music artists to expand their presences in the performing arts field.
Among the highlights of the globalFEST 2015 edition are the Brazilian Afrobeat orchestra Bixiga 70 and the Tunisian singer-songwriter Emel Mathlouthi, whose protest songs ‘Ya Tounes Ya Meskina’ (Poor Tunisia) and ‘Kelmti Horra’ (My Word is Free) became anthems for the Tunisian and Egyptians revolutions in 2011. They will be joined by another ten artists over three stages, including Emil Zrihan, The Nile Project and many others.
